CONNECTED FUTURES EXHIBITION
Connected Futures
Exhibition in the Northern California Redwoods | 2025
Connected Futures was my site-specific solo photography exhibition, held on June 1 in the redwoods and produced by Thousand Currents during my time as Photographer-in-Residence. Set beneath towering old-growth trees, the exhibition brought together art, land, and movement-rooted storytelling, inviting viewers into intimate encounters with grassroots leaders and communities from the Global South who are building futures grounded in care, resistance, and collective survival.
The exhibition featured my photographic work from years of collaboration with grassroots movements supported by Thousand Currents. The photographs center movement leaders and organizers working at the frontlines of climate justice, land defense, agroecology, and Indigenous sovereignty—from women farmers reshaping food systems, to community leaders defending ancestral lands against extractive industries. Installed outdoors, the work emphasized the deep interconnection between people and the ecosystems they protect, allowing the redwood forest itself to become part of the narrative.
More than a traditional gallery show, Connected Futures functioned as a gathering space, creating space for reflection, conversation, and solidarity. I invited viewers to slow down, listen, and consider how community-led movements are already modeling alternatives to dominant systems of extraction and harm. In dialogue with the living landscape, the exhibition pointed toward futures that are not only possible, but already in motion, rooted in relationship, reciprocity, and collective power.
