New Medina Photography Residency

Tunisia | 2022

As an photographer-in-residence at the New Medina in Tunisia, I documented the people, traditions, and craftsmanship that give the historic medina its enduring character. Moving through workshops, homes, markets, and winding alleyways, I photographed the everyday moments where heritage is carried forward as a living practice.

The resulting body of work celebrates artisans, families, and community members whose knowledge is woven into the architecture, food, crafts, and rhythms of daily life. The residency culminated in an exhibition of large-format portraits installed within the New Medina, returning these stories to the place where they were created.

The project reflects my ongoing commitment to collaborative storytelling that honors cultural heritage while centering the dignity, resilience, and humanity of the communities I photograph.
